Sorry for not being either time nor DD himself, but I think I can answer this since I doubt DD will explain it, and to stop you guys from being sarcastic to each other.

Some of you will know that DD reformed EE right before the expansion (Lich King). The main reason was because he was expecting new world pvp contents in LK will satify him and his guildies. But see how WoW turned out. DD never quit the game in WOTLK, he has always been frapsing for DD9 but it was really hard to get one good world pvp scene. Plus, not only the world pvp but the battleground is dead. I don't know hows BG in US/EU but in Korea, it's very hard to play a single battleground. WSG takes 20~30minute queue, AB takes like an hour. Rest of BGs.. once a month or something. (Yeah I'm exaggerating but it sucks that much) No guild members other than DD actually do world pvp, but raids. And, EE became somewhat... 'public'. It's famous, people know well, and guildies socialize very well with other people, but DD designed EE to be a secret, unknown private group running all over the world for slaughter. Pretty much everyone other than DD played like normal gamers, and Cataclysm won't make world pvp back to 2005. Rated BGs won't drum up BGs. Rated BGs will turn BG into 10~15men arena. That's why DD decided to dismiss EE again, and probably forever unless Cataclysm makes WoW back to classic. (# of Alliance over horde, no flying mounts, world pvps and ganks everywhere) When he dismissed EE he usually had his lv1 alt to take the guild master of EE but I guess he thought that won't make much difference from him staying alone. But well, practically EE is gone. He didn't just kick out everyone nor DD&DE fought. The guild itself just lost its color in the game. Let's say he wanted it to die in its 40s, instead of dying in an ugly shape of an oldster at his 90s.

DD is still working on his 9th and he said he will probably renew and spend more time on his website (here) and maybe develop into a bigger community for world pvpers so you guys won't have to worry him quitting or this website disappearing - for those who care.
